Naming ceremony of “Aragats” tulip.

On the occasion of the Republic Day and ahead of the 30th anniversary of Armenia’s Independence by the initiative of the Embassy and “Pinjnacker helps Armenia” fund the “Maveridge” floricultural firm named its newest tulip breed, the white tulip (the breeding and growth of new tulips takes around 7 years) after “Aragats” and the choice of the colour symbolizes snow capped tips of the Mount Aragats.

The naming ceremony took place at the headquarters of “Maverdige”, where according to the tradition, the first tulips were anointed with Armenina liquor, followed by an official signing ceremony of the naming statement with participation of ambassador Tigran Balayan, chairman of “Pijnacker helps Armenia” Henry Bos and the owner of “Maveridge” Klaas Pieter de Geus.

Afterwards Tigran Balayan toured the premises of the firm, learned more about the firm’s recent activities and achievements.

The ambassador discussed with Klaas Pieter de Geus the ways of cooperation in the future and the possibility of starting production in Armenia for the market of Eurasian Economic Union too.
